Hi all,

Can anyone recommend a good tailor in Philadelphia?

I have been using Joseph's Tailor Shop (20th and Sansom), which is pretty good, but I'm wondering if there is anyone better.

Thanks!

I'd be curious as well. Is there any place that's closer to University City?

I would like to know as well. I heard about Westbury Cleaners on 15th st. and John Dipietro (sp?) in South Philly. Does anyone have any experience with them?

I've used the guy at Westbury Cleaners -- I think Tom is his name. He does a nice job. He is busy -- you generally have to call first and get an appointment (or make sure that he is available), but he does a nice job.

Lately I've been using Rich Chae on 15th and Walnut, and he does a great job. He is a bit pricey, but he is also capable of doing things like functional button holes.

What about alterations? I would like to get shirts slimmed and possibly hemmed shorter. Any estimates of how much this might run me in Philly?

I would honestly favor price over quality, I'm a student and my shirts aren't worth enough to justify expensive tailoring.

@dopamine: you a Penn student?

for simple alterations (pants, sleeves lengthening/shortening) i go to helens, 16th/sansom.......i just discovered another, two blocks south of city hall, i think 15th, royal tailors but it was for a suit for my girlfriend (back, sleeves) and it turned out good.
