Any good shopping in Baltimore, preferably within walking distance of the Convention Center on Pratt Street? I'm especially interested in Alden shoes and want to get sized on the Barrie and Plaza lasts this week. The local dealer is low in inventory right now.

Thank you in advance!

Not really. Not sure anyone in the Baltimore area carries Alden.

The only decent store in Baltimore is Samuel Parker, which is not in walking distance of the Inner Harbor. You can check out Victor Pascal, though many think he is overpriced.

You might be better off catching the train and seeing the Alden store in DC (on F Street). Don't know if its still open. Then catch a taxi and visit Field English Custom Tailors. A short walk takes you to Sky Valet Shoes, which does carry Alden. They are a class operation.

Further afield, in Richmond, there are a couple of store. Northwest of Baltimore in Westminster, MD there is English-American tailoring.

I'm not a Baltimore resident, Alden's site says they sell through both Samuel Parker and Van Dyke & Bacon Comfort (which sounds like it's an orthotic specialist). Its 206 Libery St. location appears to be about a 15 minute walk from the Convention Center.

For clothing, Eddie Jacobs looks like it would be great and it's very close to downtown.

great advice.
would go to dc.
alden is open on 9th/f in dc and joe is very helpful.
sky valet carries alden, edward green, cj, loake and others.
elio at EA tailoring in westminster provides great, reasonably priced mtm.

I go to school in Balmer. This thread was made for me.

There's the Harborplace mall on Pratt (the big part is kind of hidden; don't miss it) but they don't have Alden there. Some BB, JCrew and that sort of thing. I think a few shoe shops. There's a Filene's basement around the corner on Light St. which I got a nice pair of Bally's last year. You're really a bit out of luck in this regard, so go do other things.

Stop by Miss Shirley's for breakfast. Place is awesome. If you like tiramisu go to Piedagrotta in Little Italy (but be VERY careful). The guy that owns it INVENTED the stuff.

Samuel Parker looks promising. I'm surprised it's never shown up in previous baltimore threads; Ill have to check that out.
