Hello All...
I will be going to San Francisco in a couple of weeks’ time and was wondering if anyone got any recommendations for a good shoe shop. I'm looking to invest in a pair of Alden's and maybe a pair of loafers from Bass. Any advice would be warmly appreciated.

Uh, there's a freestanding Alden shop in SF.

There are two Allen Edmunds shops in San Francisco.
The Unionmade Goods shop carries some exclusive designs made by Alden. Down side is they only carry D widths.

Did the Alden shop in San Francisco close?

Casserd's on Kearny carries Allen Edmonds and Sebago, and does difficult sizes.

Australia Fair has some RM Williams, but you may have to order H sizes.

The Alden shop on Sutter is alive and well. Ferragamo and Gucci also have a wide selection of loafers, although quite a bit different from Bass and Alden.

The Alden and Allen Edmonds stores are a few block from each other on Sutter. I have found the Embarcadero AE store to be more helpful than the Sutter location.

How about shopping online?

Google is your friend, but stick around B&S forum and eBay for some deals, otherwise just the usual suspects. Or deal with the manufacturer directly.

For high end footwear I'd try Wilkes Bashford. The Neiman Marcus used to carry John Lobb too.

Barney's supposedly gonna carry JL and G&G as well.
