Noodles, you are not of a burnt orange complexion. You have plenty of grey and blue ties. The orange might be too bold for you, but man up and try that nice dark red, or your good friend brown.

And hide your credit card from your wife.

Sorry @Murlsquirl - I thought I had replied yesterday (stupid iphone)... It's the second one that @Rudals just posted (the cashmere one, not grenadine). Both are awesome and would look great with it but I wanted to have a little fun breaking taboos and rules on that particular styled shot so there's a 3-season suit, a linen shirt and a cashmere tie ;)

No worries...thank you. PM me if my box isn't sealed and/or picked up yet...so you can throw the grenadine in there. If it's already prepped or out the door, I won't rush to get it.

I've been on browsing NMWA, Vanda, T & A, Shibumi(?), ConradWu, Drake, ET, etc for ties but "still havent found what I am looking for~~~~~"
Someone shoot me some ties that will go well with this suit!

I think a lot of ties would work well, but if you really don't want stripes, here are a few you might consider:

Thanks again for all the advice! The suit is much darker than I'm used to, but I think I'll keep it. This is my first real neapolitan suit, and I love the cut. I'll show a real fit pic once it is pressed, because it's a wrinkly mess right now.

Busy is not the first word which comes to mind. Or the second. Or third, for that matter.

This is in reference to the tri-color block tie from Vanda that In Stitches purchased.

Sure, busy is in the eye of the beholder.

I like the tie but I am also trying to visualize how to wear it. I'm glad that In Stitches has purchased it and I hope he will post a picture of it when it arrives. That said, the navy/green block stripe he also bought I can see going quite well in many different fits, with a brown coat coming first to mind.

Where is that tie from? Lovely.

@Delands , a solid navy suit (or charcoal for a day event) is best. White shirt. Wedding tie (or at least something subtle and tasteful in the silver / grey range). Personally I dislike even subtle stripes outside a business setting. In any event, a navy solid and grey solid suit are critical wardrobe staples regardless of what you end up wearing.
  • archibaldleach thanks for the advice. I'll go solid navy or dark charcoal for the evening dinner, with a white shirt and a wedding tie and I'll wear something lighter (solid light grey probably) for the church ceremony which is at 11AM.

I dress pretty conservative business dress during the week for my job and I guess I wanted to try something different, such as the windowpane, which I probably couldn't pull it off in my office, but a wedding is not the right setting to do so either. I'll have to find a different event then, because I really like the pattern

Again, thanks for the much appreciated advice from all of you!

She literally plucks cash out of my hands and stores them in a tin can!!!

@Claghorn and @timotune - your wives do anything like this?!

No. My wife actually encourages me to spend more since I work 7 days a week and make significantly more than she does. I don't, of course.

Rudals, the perfect tie for your Formosa suit would undoubtedly be the one you just recently sent me.

As for wifey issues, mine just pre-approved my B&Tailor bespoke project. She might change her tune though, when she finds out how much it's going to cost...
