Those are really nice ties, jfrater. If you ever think "I have too many ties, I should get rid of a few", I'd be willing to help you out. ;)

Not the best photo but at the suggestion of you guys I now have my first pair of simple cap toe black oxfords. I have a pair in museum brown coming too. Both are G&G. Beautiful shoes to behold!

This is kind of a bump, as I'm having a really hard time with this. I need some ideas for a tie pairing to go with this jacket. Any ideas?

A linen or shantung's been thrown out as a possibility, but I'm not sure about color or pattern regardless of the fabric. Thanks!!

I can't get a good read on the color from my phone......light grey with red/white plaid?

Those are perhaps my favorite of all black shoes I have ever seen ever with my eyeballs. Or heard with my earballs.

That's a tough one, macjedi. The mid-gray makes finding a trouser color with sufficient contrast difficult. Winter white or dark gray flannels are the obvious(ish) options. Maybe tan twills? For all of those, I would probably wear a white shirt and black knit tie.

Texas is loosening you right up, Clags. Or maybe you're just drinking more. Either way, I'm amused.

Yeah, pretty much, it's got a light gray with an almost white gray, charcoal and faded red (pink or rose) plaid and truer red overcheck? or windowpane? pattern.

Thanks for the recommendations. I was thinking about charcoal or steel blue. I've tried a black and navy grenadine grossa, but the colors and textures didn't work. I think the texture of the jacket is more like a flannel or soft wool. Great ideas! Will sleep on it. Thanks!!

Thanks sugarbutch! I've tried it with a black knit and a grossa, but I'm thinking know that I don't have the right texture, maybe a finer texture grenadine or a better quality knit. Trousers have been an issue. I have a pair of winter white flannels that I've hardly worn and got in part to go with this jacket, but I haven't been able to make the whole thing work. I fell back to a dark gray flannel and a very light gray flannel. Tan twills are a great idea too! Thanks so much!

That's odd. I find that earballs actually impede my hearing.

Today I laid to rest the first tie I purchased after joining style forum - a Hober navy grenadine. Pulled a massive thread on my sons toy airplane. Le sigh....

    On the plus side.... Incoming!

On my english suits I go with 4.5cm cuffs. On my more recent italian acquisitions I have been going with 5cm cuffs.

I'm glad black shoes are getting some love once again.

There is nothing that looks better with a dark city suit than black oxfords.
