1 is awesome, but he made the right choice for his situation. Namely, not having a perfect navy blazer.

Shugz, please say you koped that tie.

    I like your picks.

I figured I'd take a look at what I would keep for my work fits if I had to pair down to five (or six). I could live with just these six ties plus my black grenadine grossa for funerals and my black and white glen plaid for weddings (both are worn with white shirts).

I don't mean to emulate his style exactly, more that like him I would do something non standard but still be seen as well dressed, wearing things that are not the usual subtle that SF likes.

Don't forget to stop by Kilgour on savile row. I'm not sure if they have their new collection already, but the pics/interview I saw in The Rake made it look like something that would suit your waist suppression better.

    This one?

In any case, I have not. I'm trying to rein in my purchases at the moment. But soon I'll have a new, bigger closet. And that can mean only one thing... :nodding:

What are everyone's preferred brands for OCBDs? I'm slowly replacing "mall brand" items from amongst my staples with better stuff as the older pieces wear out.

    Hopefully around $100 or less?

Jfrat, that is well done. Small squabble, I think the flat white shirt is too city for the rustic country jacket and tie, Id go with an oxford cloth and I would prefer something blue, but its a real nice fit and a big step up. Well done.

Thanks! I considered a blue herringbone shirt but was concerned the blue would be a color too many - does that not really matter?

No, not in my book. A blue shirt is such a staple background that it could almost never be considered a color too many imo. I think it would be great as long as the blue is not too saturated.

Ok, so color-wise that is superb. Now we are starting to hit pay dirt.

I'll make 2 more small suggestions.

    1. The herringbone pattern of the shirt is too close in scale with that of the jacket. A smaller herringbone would be better, but ideally Id probs not wear herringbone shirt and jacket together. This is a pretty fundamental point, and while the combo is real good, I would keep this in mind. Varying the scale across the board is something to always keep in mind.

    2. The edge on the PS is almost the same color as the SC. I personally like a little matchiness in my PS, but more so with the tie or shirt, but right against the jacket it should not be the same color to the point they blend into each other. Considering this is just the edge of the PS, Id say while I think its a fair point, compared to the above its rather minute, and I bet some people dont mind it at all.

    Great work, man!

Also, I took the liberty of fixing your pic by enlarging it so you can see what I mean, and because it looks so much better in large, and you deserve credit for that combo. Hope you are ok with that.
