Haha, it is though. So many homeless people, the bars aren't interesting/close too early, the restaurants aren't anything special either, and outside of the Harvard buildings it isn't easy on the eyes either. Certainly not one of the best college towns if you want to have fun, but I suppose that's not why people come there.

That's the only one I noticed. I had drinks and tapas at La Tasca (or something like that). PM me some suggestions....I have all week here.

    Go to Founding Farmers.
    Go to Chinatown.
Go eat some Shack Stack from Shake Shack.
20&I - Nice Peruvian restaurant called El Chalant
18&K - Nice Chineses restaurant called Schezuan Pavillion (botched spelling)

I've never been to La Tasca, but from what I've heard from people who have, Jaleo (a few blocks south) is much, much better. I have been to Jaleo several times and can confirm that it is very good. Zaytinya (Mediterranean) and Oyamel (Mexican) are great for tapas as well.

All of AC's recs are good. La Tasca is not. There is a great deal of confusion around this subject because Tosca, an Italian restaurant a few blocks away, is excellent.

When was the last time you were here, because I can tell you that as someone in their mid 20's, I have an absolute fucking blast in harvard, central, davis, and union squares. They're all in cambridge/somerville.

Harvard has: Park, russell house, alden and harlow, the beat hotel, grendel's den (divey), charlies (divey), hong kong (divey) and a few cool music venues.

Central: Brick and mortar, a really awesome moroccan place I forgot the name of, green street grille, central kitchen, etc.

Davis: Saloon, the painted burro, the foundry, five horses, etc.

These are all places with good food and better drink.

Central does have homeless people, but most cities do. I saw tons in NYC and Philly.

Count me among the native Bostonians who would go for Modern over Mike's. Both are very good, but the line is almost always worse at Mike's.
