Then you need to be "like": "Woman, go look at that fancy bag I just bought you and reflect on where we are here. I'm sorting out my ties like a good, orderly Asian man. Now make my supper."

And you, go order your navy boots. What's the worst that can happen? You sell them on eBay for what you paid for them. But you'll be fine. :)

#12 is stuck at 19 thumb ups. Shame. But I agree with Stitchie's assessment that my looks (more lately) have been too...boring.

Noodlers, need some advice. As this week's Friday Challenge has revealed, green is an awesome color for a sportcoat. As my aborted entry into the challenge has also shown, my current green jacket is not green enough, doesn't fit particularly well, and is made of a Super 120s fabric that looks like suiting:

Here are my current non-navy jackets, minus a gray Holland and Sherry coat that's at the tailor's:

Left to right: brown donegal tweed, gray donegal tweed, light olive flannel w/dark green overcheck, gray, the notorious green jacket that needs replacing, light brown silk/wool, silk/linen PoW.

Which of these options (or none) would you recommend?

    Option 1: Belvest Green Cashmere
    http://www.ebay.com/itm/NWT-3195-BE...SA_MC_Blazers_Sport_Coats&hash=item51c233a85a

    Option 2: Epaulet Forest Tweed

Option 3: Eidos "Horse Blanket" from NMWA:
    http://www.nomanwalksalone.com/inde...t-coat-with-terra-cotta-check-11-oz-wool.html

Option 4: Brooks Brothers Dark Green Tweed:
    http://www.brooksbrothers.com/Regen...ar_MM00260_Color=BRGR&contentpos=17&cgid=0217

Option 5: Brooks Brothers Olive Tweed:
    http://www.brooksbrothers.com/Own-M...var_MM00398_Color=GRNM&contentpos=2&cgid=0217

    Option 6: Anything else?

I also plan to add a navy flannel or donegal in the near future, if that helps for context.

    Thanks for your help!

None. I'd get a blue/navy jacket instead. Green is cool but it's not really necessary.

    @The Noodles I don't see a black grenadine tie.

Noodles, would you wear wool challis ties? Or are you strictly interested in silk?

Agreed on the grey suit. Noodles, as far as ties are concerned, navy, light blue, grey, forest green, brown and burgundy solids are all staples. If you did one grenadine, one twill and one diamond weave / oxford weave in each color, you would have 18 solids alone. Add two black ties to the mix for 20. Pindots on navy, brown, forest green and burgundy will get you to 24 (assuming you only do one of each). If you can't find 10 tasteful neats or other patterns (including houndstooth and the like) on Hober's website alone (not even considering other companies), you're crazy. 34 new ties (minus any you already have). More if you like stripes. Not saying you need every single thing I mentioned, but the point is that there are more than 30 basic, conservative ties you could consider before even branching out. Getting your collection to 30 from 20 or so should not be an issue.

@noodles , I agree, you've got the pin dot category pretty well covered. Didn't realize you had so many.

Navy donegal is going to happen. It will be my sixth navy jacket, and all of the other five get worn regularly:

Left to right: super 120s three season in single and double breasted, tropical wool, lighter-than-navy Aquaspider wool). Not pictured: blue with dark navy overcheck, at the tailor.

Green is a bonus, absolutely, but it's one I'd like to pursue.

@heldentenor, if you get a green jacket I would definitely get something that is in the tweed range. Corduroy works if you want to be more casual, but I think a tweed coat is ultimately more versatile. There are some lovely green herringbone tweeds, some nice Donegal tweeds and various greenish tweeds with overchecks. I'd hold off until you find a fabric you truly love. Green sport coats can be awesome but your odd jacket wardrobe seems complete enough without them.

I'd go for a navy or blue Donegal over a navy flannel jacket assuming you have a navy blazer you can wear in F/W.

Pick up some Henry Carter ties. I just picked up a couple and couldn't be happier. Aside from the obvious Hobers that is.

Noodles, I suspect you've just spent 45 minutes pretending to have a digestive disorder in the privacy of your en suite, rather than face the wrath of Mrs Noodles for photographing all your ties together. You might as well put your balls in a little jar around her neck.

Ah well, we've all been there to some degree. No. Fuck. No, I didn't mean with your wife. Sorry. Moving on...

Right, by tomorrow your time, you will have a new list from me.
