@TweedyProf, hang on to them. They're nice shoes and quite usable. It's okay to have favorites you reach for and other nice things in your closet that you don't. They'll last longer this way anyways. If you wear navy blazers during the day, I'd say the sleekness could do a good job of complementing something like that too.

@TweedyProf , for what it's worth, I've got the shell brogues in your picture and I reach for those and my suede shoes virtually every day I'm not in a suit.

    ^^

    TweedyProf,

I have a pair of similar shoes, and my rationale for them resembles what Stitches suggests. They're not the most versatile shoe I own, and I get a lot more use out of my mid-brown longwings or my dark brown chelseas, but I don't find them useless. It helps that mine are my only burgundy shoes, and that their last isn't markedly sleeker than most of what I wear.

I've begun thinking of them as single monks with laces instead of a buckle, which helps a little bit. I also hope to get some more casual suits into my wardrobe: I have a few brownish tweeds and flannels waiting to be altered, and I think mine will work well there.

I don't know how much I'd like your shoes with, say, Harris tweed and an OCBD, but I think they could be fine with sharply creased trousers, a somewhat refined jacket (softer textured, not too much pattern) in a slimmer cut, and a spread collar shirt.

EDIT: ArchibaldLeach is totally right about them as a great blazer shoe.

Tweedy - if they're size 8.5UK then I'd say they're rather worthless and you'll likely have to sell them very, very cheap. I could probably help you find someone to buy them. [IMG]

If they're any other size then I'd concur with the good advise given above.

This picture is so bad ass!

No, Family owned Independent Insurance Agency/Brokerage. It's kind of a fucked up family situation. My Brother (owner) fired our Sister forcing Moms to quit about 2 years ago. I knew at that point nothings off the table. I'm hoping this will be a good thing since all the other drama has negatively affected the family. The new Agency that bought us is extremely sales driven and has annual sales goals that I haven't achieved in all of the 13 years working at where I'm at now so I'm a bit nervous based on that.

Sorry for the rant and thanks for the kind words everyone. :slayer: I'm gonna fuckin own the new joint thats for sure! :D

Tweedy, I like them, and I'd wear them with a variety of outfits. Maybe think of them like sleek chukkas? I would wear them with a suit or with an odd-jacket combo.

Yes, they are nice though perhaps you'd prefer an oxford given your fits?
