I'm gonna say Hober as you can customize it. Stitchy, you have experience with both brands. Thoughts?

well, i like the color and neat pattern of the shibumi better, although the hober pic quality is for shit. but, id give a significant up to hober for being able to customize and get a better tie knot. also, pricing favors hober.

Thanks. That's the way I'm leaning as well. Especially as I already have a darker brown neat:

If you're a 4IH knot person, then I think Sam Hober grenadine ties are the best from my own experience. Vanda ties are great in terms of design and their knots come out fairly well but they can be thin in terms of fabric. As for Shibumi ties, I have never owned one but have heard things that made me stay away. And lastly, my one experience with Cappelli was a total disaster from customer service to its product. I will never ever order from them again. (Bigi ties from NMWA are great too).

I have a Shibumi grenadine. It is a crunchy, sexy, perfect thing. And just double up that FIH in true SF style. Something I'm not ashamed to admit I adopted after seeing it here, as a nice balance of laid back and substantial for a knot.

Cox: normally I'd echo the SF enabler standard and say get it. But it's not sharp enough for you. You're a bad muthafucka, and you can do country gent in your own inimitable way - a sharp, bad muthafucka way. But this makes you look like a tired geography teacher. It is not for you. That is why it is cheap. Be not fooled.

I go exclusively with the 4IH and have about 10 Hobers, with about half of them grenadines. I have not tried Bigi yet, but have been thinking about it. Glad to hear the recommendation.

Passagio Crawatte has terrible customer service. Howard Yount technically has customer service. (Though he isn't a scammer)

Cappelli DOES NOT have terrible customer service.

Noodles, I don't have any interaction with Capelli and am not a fanboy. However, you have told that story like 20 times, that's all stitches is saying.

I don't want to post up the email exchanges that I had with him. I am beating a dead horse here so let's just move on. You have your own opinion and I have my own opinion from my own experience.

Am I one of the few with no problems with orders from Howard Yount, Cappelli or Passaggio Cravette? Cappelli make bespoke orders for me twice without a hitch. I don't recall having customs duties either but I may have forgotten. OTOH the duties for Charvet were brutal and unforgettable.
