^ Those who do not learn from the past are doomed to repeat it or something like that.

I think all of the ties, with the possible exception of the light brown PoW, will work with the Donegal. The PoW might work but is maybe in a too similar colour, hard to say without viewing tie and swatch together. I would be weary of patterned ties with the farmer's check, the pattern is bold enough that pairing it with solids seems necessary. Same goes for the icy houndstooth. The steel blue Harris tweed should work with all as far as I can see.

Lol - you guys are harsh.
Did you guys really think that I had relapsed? Nonsense! Had I purchased a new 38R Zegna that was ill fitting then you could say that I have relapsed. My wife received a gift card for $500 from NM and wanted to get my share. But after purusing thru their entire tie collection, that tie above was the best that I can mustard. Obviously, I wont be buying and never had the intention to begin with. The below is a Vanda that I am about to pull the trigger on but I think I want order at least 3 since it takes a long time to get here.

Gentlemen, I need some guidance. After months of restraint, I've started to go crazy again with menswear purchases. In particular, I have recently dropped coin on two more sports jackets which I really didn't need (although both are very nice). Now I am confronted with a new and evil temptation, to wit, this really nice and rustic windowpane number from Hackett, available at a very significant discount.

Sleeves need shortening, but aside from that, fit is just perfect. Very English, with broad sloping, moderately structured shoulders and a nice taper. Not seen are brown suede elbow patches.

This is killing me. Please talk me out of this madness.

If you have a lot of stuff ALREADY that you regret purchasing, this is not the one you should add to that list of stuff. From what I've seen on WAYWRN, you have a good taste but how long are you going to buy buy buy? Put your foot down on the breaks and save the money for your wife's new Chanel purse.

But I like looking old. It adds gravitas.

Pecuniary restraint is not one of styleforum's strong suits. Buy it!

Lol. As long as you can avoid gravity, why not. So this would be the Saturday late morning pub jacket when meeting the "old" guard.

Noodles' quest for the Vanda tie reminds me I've had my eye on this Shibumi tie for awhile, but not sure I want to pull the trigger on it. Looking to pair it with a mid-gray suit. Thoughts, anyone?

That's an easy - BUY IT.
I actually took a look at that same time but passed on it because it is a 3 fold construction and I like my ties to be bulky, especially since I do 4IH knot.

You just hit on one of my reservations as the Shibumi ties are a little thin in the knot area, but beautiful to look at. It's between this Shibumi and this Hober, which I can customize:
