stop looking so hard and over-analyzing it.

step back a bit, stop thinking so much and drawing lines, and you will see that its quite nice.

    Monkeyface,

I think I mentioned that suit struck me as a little BB-ish. Like, I see it as a six-month suit for sort of East Coast CBD. Now, I know east coast like the back of my hand, but my CBD knowledge is admittedly second-hand.

The shirt in question is a good choice, for that reason. Tassel loafers are another good idea, but maybe not in suede (too casual). Black captoes are too formal. This is anti-SF, but black tassel loafers would work well, as would some kind of monk or basically any burg shoe. Don't you have those Meermin museum calf punch caps? How about those, the same shirt, and the striped tie?

I think the striped tie is a good bet. I like the brown knit, but I think it needs a silk hank. The grenadine is tough -- for me, that tone-on-tone thing only works if the tie is a really close match. But I kind of hate that look anyway. In terms of grenadines, slate blue, burgundy, dark green, gray?

Also, I bought the dark blue version of that Uniqlo polo with the medallion print, and it's sick. Thanks for indirectly recommending it.

Nothing wrong with a high gorge jacket, i have some and I love them, and those are not roped shoulders. It is shirred albeit a lil aggressively but the suit still has tags so we can assume it will settle over time.

@Monkeyface that's a serious business suit you've got there that deserves CBD treatment i.e. no oxford shirts, knit ties and loafers.

Thank you, YR92. Those are all very good suggestions!

I'll have to get some black loafers. I don't know why SF hates them so much, loads of people in my office are wearing them, and while it doesn't look good on everyone, some people can definitely pull it off. It's kind of the stereotypical banker look, so I might as well live up to it.

I didn't bring a lot of ties on this trip, but I'll definitely keep your suggestions in mind when I'm back home.

Awesome, that uniqlo polo is a steal for that price! :slayer:

Btw, Rudals, why don't you look into Eidos? I think they're made in Italy, fully canvassed, and have lots of nice fabrics. It's on sale at Bloomingdales for $650-700 at the moment, and the cut and details are a little nicer than the La Spalla, while the price is much lower.

Sounds like you don't like them because they don't fit you. Makes sense to me since SS doesn't fit me either (buttoning point fail). But that a spalla certainly fit noodles well....

Despite the hopsack fabric? That would be better for me, as I work in a somewhat CBD environment. Maybe it's a CBD suit that can also be dressed down a bit?

Are you sure it's hopsack? Looks like fresco to me in your pics...
Anyway, for inspiration how to dress down this suit, look no further than Eidos' own NickP

I'm not drawing anything. Just saying what my eyes are drawn to. The pattern and the shoulders look busy to me. If it was a solid/textured color, I think it would look better.

    C'est tout.

    A quick question re: ties.

I barely wear ties, but am trying to grow my collection, and move away from just knits. What do you guys think of this for a summer tie? Silk & linen. I like it, but my tie tastes don't feel very refined, as it is not something I think about with my current fits much.[IMG]

Not a fan, sorry. I am a big fan of linen/silk blends though, especially over pure linen (wrinkle too much for a tie) but I'd be starting with plain's or more subtle patterns than the above.

    I like it, but

    a) I'd have a hard time wearing it (too much beige/white)
    b) I have a lot of ties. That definitely wouldnt be in my first fifty.

    Cheers guys.
I am collecting all the basic reps from ebay (green/navy, navy/maroon etc.), and only bought this one cause I got it for around $10 on ebay.

I make a lot of stupid purchases because things are cheap/reduced etc.

Still, for $10 i think I will see if it works with anything. I have a nice beige/fawn sportscoat and a navy cotton hopsack type weave sportscoat, I thought it would do well with them for summer.

If there is any suggestions of ways it might work, let me know! Cheers though. Will check here next time I think, before any purchases I'm ot 100% on.
