I've done this successfully, but I recall my tailor telling me it depends on the fabric. I believe a lighter colored worsted fabric is more likely to show where the stitches were as compared with darker colors or fabric with some texture.

I am taking my Formosa in for the sleeves and nothing else, and Mr. Field (the tailor) did mention that if there are not enough fabric by the sleeves, then the LAST RESORT would be to take it off from the shoulders and work on them.

Let me ask you all a question:
You guys have seen my suits. I am in the process of unloading them. But what would you do with suits that just don't fit you anymore per SF but are passable outside the SF matrix?

This is the jacket in question, fyi. Part of a suit, but I think it's bold enough to be SC-able.

Sleeves are 26.5 and i usually take about 25ish (sleeve length is usually 33-34 in shirts).

You are shortening the sleeves, right? Then the amount if fabric shouldn't be an issue....

Or are the buttonholes functional on the sleeves?

Here's what I do with ties or shirts.
If it sucks, I put it in another closet and just don't deal with them unless I need a beater tie/shirt.
But since I can get more than a hundred bucks on suits, I think it is just best to unload them and get another Formosa with the proceeds.

No, they're not. It really will not be an issue. I was just sharing what the tailor said would be the last resort IF there is not enough fabric by the sleeves.

Personally, I would not do it. The faux stitching is significant and it crosses over the stripe.

Ah! They're not annoying. I am probably the most annoying person here, so no worries.
I thought you had already bought them.
If they are working buttons then I would worry. If there's not enough fabric by the sleeves then they would detach by the shoulder. You're just gonna rack up a lot of tailoring bill.

    Thanks @europrep .
Decision made. Some of these good seeming ideas tend to end up costing far more than they're worth at times.

Noodles, they're faux holes, sleeves are about 1-1.5 inches too long. Going 1.5 inches would mean that the cut sleeve would be too close to the last buttonhole.

I have never send something to them to copy because I have no idea of how much the shipping costs will be. So I try to get all the measurements right but sometimes is a bit hard. I found it easier to send the measurements in centimeter cause I can be as detailed as I can than in inches. I don't know how to read the metric band in inches [IMG]

For example the leg opening of the linen trousers is 22.9 cm and that's like 8.93".

yep. its not like i am wearing wool socks, but i need some thickness to them to feel comfortable. also, i find super thin socks do not stay up very well. i have pretty curvaceous ankles and calves tho, which i think plays a part.

if you can get a few hundred bucks for them each, sell. if not, keep and use as needed.

this. i also do not like the jacket.
