Dang it! I tied this necktie like over a dozen time today. This tie...iwsh it was thicker!
After thinking about it this afternoon, I'm convinced that an all-navy suit wardrobe would be really cool. There's enough variation in the shades considered navy that you could have some fun with that, and then all the fabrics? I always forget about how sweet navy flannel looks. And you could definitely find navy ties that are just the right shade to pull off the navy monochrome look...
I think a nice mix is good. My annual review is tomorrow and if I get a hefty bonus...crap...I need to dump it into the engagement ring fund. I cant wait for this imprisonment to be over. Anywyas, I wud like to start buying different shades of greys. And no more solid suits.
I don't think the double FIH looks bad at all. And actually it fits with the size of your collar. I don't hold a light to gdl stylewise, but if I may, I think given the size of the collar in that pic above, a bigger knot might be better.
Variety in knots is not a bad thing either, really. It looks fine. Different is ok. And it is a lovely tie. Enjoy it.
Did you try the half dimple method???
Well, as far as all navy goes...I have 7 blue jackets and an 8th just started (I miscounted in an earlier thread). Though I have a few grays and browns (including another in the works), I'm most comfortable with blue. Maybe check out some of the different shades of blue as well.
Clag, dont u have like a week off because of the holidays?
새해 복 많이 받드세요!
Aye, I have 4 days off. Hence the absence of fit posts. Yesterday, I didn't even leave the house. Mrs. C and I just stayed at home watching movies and eating Pepperridge Farm Goldfish.
Lol. I was gonna ask how u got a hold of the Pepperidge Farm Goldfish, but then again it is Korea. Enjoy the days off. I wish I can visit all my relatives in korea just so that I can collect 세뱃돈. Oh shoot, I might be too old for that.
Never too old to bow
beautiful knot ... congratulations
Much appreciate your compliments. Guess I will stick with the double loop 4IH knot. Thanks again.
Bring that tie in May. If I can get a proper dimple out of it with a HW or 4IH, izzzz mine
A word of advice, given that you work in a conservative office: despite the popularity of that variant of the double 4IH on SF, if I had seen it IRL before joining SF, I would have assumed the wearer didn't know how to tie a tie. I wouldn't have said anything, but that is what I would have thought.
(Actually, I still don't like it, but accept that it's personal preference, and if the rest of a look is great, so what...)
But for most non-SF people, seeing the second loop underneath the first is weird. If you want to tie a double 4IH, and work in a conservative place, pull the tie through between the loops (not below both of them) so it looks like a normal 4IH, albeit just a bit thicker.
