I'll try on both 38R and 40R
Thank you for the reply. It's very enlightening, even though it makes it that much harder to shop online if I can't rely on measurements. How should I determine whether the Formosa will fit me? I'll be in New York in about 2 months, but I suppose you won't still have that navy fresco in stock by then?
What I meant by odd sizing is that most brands I'm familiar don't go up in sizing by .8" with every size, but more by .5". I certainly did not mean to detract from Formosa's quality or your measuring system, and I'm glad you replied to my post, which shows your excellent customer service.
/happy end of pesach
When offered free shipping and free returns (as well as sizing recommendations quickly answered) I find online shopping very easy.
Yeah, but NWMA understandably doesn't offer that to the EU, and that's the same story for many other retailers.
...hmmm...but the suits come from the EU LOL
Perhaps I should open my own Formosa store in the EU
There must be a store that carries Formosa suits in Europe
Not to my knowledge.
Ah, didn't see you location. Too bad. At least you'll be in NY in a few months!

Yeah, looking forward to visiting stores such as the armoury, epaulet, etc. It is a little odd that many Italian brands can only be bought either in Italy or in the US.
Formosa is a bespoke house. As far as I know, they don't do much RTW stuff--not sure how Greg managed to convince them to hand make a bunch of suits and then let him sell them for half their normal price.
I hope you didn't find my post dismissive. But if you think about what difference 1/8" makes on an overall shoulder measurement, you'd probably conclude that this is not how you can make your decisions. Think about it in terms of range (e.g. 18-19" for shoulders, xx-yy" for chest, zz-aa" for length, etc...), everything else cannot truly be gauged until you try it on. Which means that you should really only shop online from places that offer easy and free returns. You're correct that we can't offer free return shipping for intercontinental transactions (shipping is just too damn expensive!), but I'm sure some European stores do.
Hope to see you in a couple of months - we my still have your size in the navy fresco. Hard to say
