That may be a monitor or my pic as it's slate blue IRL, love the colour!

If you go to the HC thread and I think it's page 75, he's got the tie set up with a light blue shirt and blue SC it looks superb :nodding:

For $950ish, this is what I picked up with the tags still attached and no alterations...with some luck and from a very good fellow SF member. You know who you are. [IMG]

Why not this route for your next suit? Just think about it, but still try Proper Suits and see how they're like.

I've been to his website and I've always wanted to order something but the colors on his website are off and it is hard to judge. I know HC said that he is working or has fixed this issue. I just wish that I ordered something from HC when I was on my spending spree. I am furniture shopping with the wife and so I am dead broke. [IMG]

Ties that would work well with what you wear:

and something you should experiment with as you are going to be working on shifting one or two items out of UCBD territory (an awesome endeavor on your part):

Also, it's half off if your wife asks. Though only two are left. Looks like beautiful linen. If I wore more white shirts, I'd be all over it.

    Accurate colors.

That's a shame Doodals, but you need something to sit on and eat off I suppose!

I do recall your conversation regarding colours and swatches I believe. FWIW those two I ordered mirror what I saw on the site, so when you're ready go with confidence :nodding:

My latest spending spree going to the wrong places:
$2,000~ on my platinum wedding band.
$3,000~ on wife's LV purse. (She's never owned one so it was more of a wedding gift...on top of the freaking diamond ring).
$2,000~ on new king size bed frame.
$2,000~ on new king size bed.
$1,000~ on new plates, silverware, cups, etc
$x,xxx~ on wife's new wardrobe. It will be an ongoing project but luckily she's into like ZARA and stuff. Thank goodness.

So far, I've yet to spend squat on ME since the wedding. But I am happy if she's happy. [IMG]

During the summer, winter and spring breaks, I tutor a kid who goes to boarding school in the US. His mom recently treated my wife and I to lunch. She had been wanting to meet my wife for a while, and so when she did, she presented my wife with a $700 Tory Burch purse. This is what mom's buy the wife of their son's tutors here in Korea. So Rudals is lucky to get away with only spending 3k on his own wife's purse.

She hasn't purchased anything for me. Though as I am an expensive tutor, I'm not complaining (and I'm cheap compared to some folks I know who command over 200 an hour for their services).

    ----------

Rudals, get the checked linen. Your wife wants you to move in that direction. It's half off. And there are only two left. And you'll join the HC club like everyone else in your thread.

Hope your wife liked the purse.
Listen, YOU are dealing with rich folks over there in Seoul (why else would they live in 강남). I appreciate the fact that Koreans invest so much into their children's education. You see the results, especially in the U.S. 1st generations (parents) work their butt off from dawn to late evenings and barely see their kids but make sure that their kids live in neighborhoods with great schools. You see it paying off in the 2nd gen (me and my age folks) who get nice jobs and become doctors, lawyers, etc.

Only $3,000 on the purse so far but I'll be spoiling her in the months to come. I need to get her away from ZARA and H&M. I did also get her a nice $800 Ferragamo(?) shoes.

Not just Gangnam. Most of my clients are in Apgujeong/Cheongdam with a few living in Daechi.

I've been trying to get Mrs. Claghorn to get some nifty goodyear welted stuff from Meermin, but so far she mostly wants TOMS, TOMS, and more TOMS.

    :fistbump: I feel your pain.

Took me forever to convince my wife that no pair of $100 leather boots was ever going to be worth it. Finally convinced her to buy a pair of Frey boots, which seemed to be decently made. Not great, but decent. Partially Goodyear welted at the least. I was very exasperated when she brought them home and the uppers were definitely not full-grain leather. She told me to shut up and wears them anyways.

Yup. She used to say "Claghorn, you spend so much money on your clothes, but you gripe whenever I want to spend money on mine." She's since realized that I only gripe when she spends money on clothes which are poorly made. She knows that if something is 100% wool, I don't mind shelling out money for it. I'd much rather her purchase good 300 dollar boots than 100 dollar shitty boots. It's just that she wants 3 pairs of those $100 dollar boots.

She doesn't really call me "Claghorn" though.

Just get them. They're cheap and I, for one, really like them on girls. My wife has 8 or 9 pairs. I have a pair hidden and wrapped in case I ever do something to make her really mad (I haven't had to use it in the 8 months we've been living together).

Same here. I keep telling her my painfully (i.e. expensively) learned lessons--find the perfect thing you want--boots, black dress, casual dress, whatever--make sure it's well made and fits, then buy it. Settling for crappy clothes that fall apart in a season and were never quite what you wanted anyways is just a mistake all the way around.

We ended up setting clothing budgets for both of us, which roll over every month. She didn't buy much of anything all winter, and is now buying a few nice dresses for herself. That's the right way to do it IMO.

We had that *exact* conversation about boots several times. Of course now that she has the nice(r) boots, I have to convince her to actually care for them. I swear, sometimes I think she plays soccer with loose cobblestones or something during her lunch break.
