Seriously. Who cares. Id rather 100 Giannis than some of the ass hats that travel through SF.
JRD, clearly, he rubs you the wrong way, so why don't you just block him then?
I'm not really fussed about this myself. His own style is far beyond what I would be comfortable pulling off that on the few fits that I have posted and where he has also given his verbal thumbs up, I'm content enough that the fit was positive enough to garner a vote across the spectrum of dressers with disparate styles.
JR, sorry you had to let go of that coat from NMWA; just saw it in the B&S thread...hope you can recoup it (someone shorter should be able to take it off your hands and be quite happy).
OK: can we talk about light colored ties? From the FC, it seems that a safe and good way to pull it off is with a navy blazer. Much more of a challenge otherwise. In part, a decent level of contrast between SC and tie seems to be fairly essential. Pastel ties seem to me fraught with peril. Who won anyway?
I miss that semi pro underground rapper...
Navy blazer or suit works. Same idea with a charcoal or medium grey suit. In general, light grey and blue ties look best on white shirts. Ties in the pink / lilac / light green range are going to look better on a very pale blue background.
You're blazing because someone gives compliments. Sure, he could multiquote, but this is hardly a mortal sin relative to the other asshattery that goes on here. I second the suggestion that you block his posts.
Tweedy, I might be biased on this, but I think that a dark brown also works fabulously with a lighter color tie.
Tchoy was the winner.
I probably will just block. Since this is the noodle thread I think we should be able to speak freely and civily about the goings on of the forum. Clearly, some agree with me that he's a post count spammer
Heh stitch, you're right, biased or not.
jrd, i can see why some find his posts bothersome, but i can say without question that he could not care less about his post count.
Gianni isn't a post count spammer. When you meet him in person you see that is just incredibly passionate about the things people discuss on this board. When I was in milano Gianni was incredibly generous with his time. He just likes talking about style and he enjoys discussion. I too sometime find his posts lacking in substance, but they don't lack in sincerity.
First day back at the office. I just saw the gift that you guys sent me. I am very thankful to you all!
Thank you again!
Shoot, that's the wrong one.
Tweedy Prof. Thanks. It looks like I may have it sold already. It's more of a frustration thing. I just want a couple decent jackets and I'm not having much luck. Admittedly it's directly my fault for thinking I could work with certain measurements. I thought I had them nailed down better than I did. I'm having better luck with my stash of older ebay jackets that have a more dated look but fit better. We'll get there.
Yes, you will. Time is one's friend and enemy here (as is resources).
If you're looking for solids, have you tried Suit Supply MTM? The basic fabrics are less expensive (though perhaps they've increased in price), and the SCs would be fully canvassed. Probably not much more than you paid for the NMWA coat from Cantarelli which has a good reputation but in the NMWA models are only half canvassed. Both sources would use italian fabrics, I presume, but one sewn in italy, the other in china (though I was told by SS that the fabric is cut in italy and then sent to china to be sewn...don't know if I should believe that).
Separate names with a comma.
