    them color combo is weird.

    @Cleav
Just to get this straight. What's the offer? You're going to buy C&Js directly or are you selling them to me or giving them for free as wedding gift or what is going on????

It's not about colour really Tweeds, it's about are they too similar, probably yes.

I think my mind is made up.

Cleav, those are nice. The 348 Last is growing on me (as it better...)

And yes, the two shoes are too similar though I understand the temptation. I really like the JLs.

You're such a wag! Very well played.

    Right, what size are you?

Which last do you like or not?

    Colour preferred?

    How about these?

Don't concern yourself with colour in those pics. I only posted them as black is more difficult to view.

Rudals - I have nothing against the C&J NYC store at all, but as you're in DC you may give Sky Valet on Wisconsin Ave a look. Last I checked their prices were quite competitive with other US outlets and the selection is decent (but you will have to steel yourself against the call of the EG's that they also stock :))

The last of a shoe is its shape ... that's why you could be a normal width in one model and a wide width in another model even though they are both made by Allen Edmonds (or whoever).

The upper of a shoe is the leather above the sole - the last of the shoe is the shape.

With some makers, like Carmina, your size can vary a fair amount between one last and another.

Nah. No one knows what the hell any of this stuff means when they first start getting into wardrobe building. These aren't terms you hear ever.

It's not like you asked what a shoelace is, haha.

This is why it is better to try them on. I like the Carmina Rain last but am told I should size up in the Simpson by half a size due to the narrower width. Don't know if that is true, and the only way to know is to try them on. The 348 Last in C&J which Cleave has pictures of in his Lowndes has a strikingly elongated toe. Some report it being too narrow though it seems true to size in a 9D (UK 8E). You might not like the 348, but that was the last Daniel Craig was wearing in Skyfall (he's sporting the Highbury's in your avatar). In the C&J thread, I've read people who dislike the 348 last if your feet are bigger than a 8US!

I understand the awkwardness of going into a store to try on lasts when you intend to buy elsewhere or have Cleav help you out via the C&J Outlet in Northhampton (if that was the plan). But probably the only way to know.

I had heard that too and so I did order 1/2 size up on a pair. I don't think I needed to though. Maybe it was a fluke thing but they almost feel too big.

I think I tried on a simpson last single monk at Epaulet last year when I was in NYC. Fit me fine in 9D which is my normal size. Good to hear your experience.
