Great call, Murl--and you can (and will, I suspect) do the Blazersuit project a number of ways at a later date. That green will be so awesome.

Thanks for your responses on the ties, gents--in true deference to this thread, I pulled a Noodles and went in a related but different direction, with a garza grossa grenadine in burgundy from Shibumi. That will be my first garza grossa; can't wait to put it to use.

I do want to think about neats and patterned SCs more, though. I'm not yet convinced that the combination can't be done effectively. Maybe I'll put something together for the Grad Lounge.

Thanks, guys. My consultant helped me or quite a bit. A navy blazersuit will be ordered through NMWA as soon as the S/S fabrics are in.

I thought it was just me. I have one, hardly ever wear it and just don't get the appeal. I know they get a fair bit of love here but there just always seems to be a better option.

You are not alone! I love solid ties...just not burgundy. Couldn't tell you why, they just don't appeal to me.

I like solid burgundy ties but can see how others may not. Certain solid colors like black, navy and grey work really well with a suit and white shirt fit which is a context in which the minimalism of all solids works. Throw in an odd jacket or blue shirt and that may not be the case anymore.

I have a solid burgundy grenadine from Panta and an oxford weave from Hober. Both are beautiful and both rarely get worn. I'm hard pressed to think of a context where I wouldn't rather reach for a burgundy neat or a brown solid.

@heldentenor , contrary to most people here, I really like tie #2, the brown Calabrese....

I think pink shirts work well with burgundy solids. With blue, I am neutral between burgundy and brown solids.

Found a couple of eidos ties on sale. Keep, sell, or return? I think I have most staples covered, these would probably be for events instead of the office.

Keep the right one for sure. Nice colours together.
