I wouldn't say that I'm a "fan" of the off-white shirts per se, I was just interested in your opinion. I'm getting a bunch of MTM shirts made, and I'm just looking at the colors that I need and I don't need. I decided that I don't need the following: green, grey, orange, and yellow. I was on the fence about getting an eggshell shirt, but given the fact that I do have four brown and two tan jackets, I might just purchase one.

I do have a question, however.

I'm getting my shirts made through Cottonwork, and what is your opinion on these colors? Everyone else can chime in if they please:

@Kira, I really like the pairing of the right off-white shirt with a brown jacket or some other sort of tweed. I only have one but finding the right cream / ecru shirt in a royal oxford or something similar for a reasonable price is something I've been working on.

From what I can tell from my monitor, I like 2 and 3 the best. The white and colored stripes seem more even in width in 2 than 1 and this generally looks better. As for the pink, I find pink tends to work better when it is a bit lighter and less saturated and 3 seems to fit the bill the best.

Kira, for the colors you are partial to, I think an off white shirt would work well.

I have no issue with any of the swatches.

@in stitches, if I recall correctly you either have or are getting a brown suit. What shirts do you typically wear with it? I ask because I think something off-white would work very well with it.

White, blue, and white/blue striped. Off white/ecru would likely be nice with that suit, but it just does not appeal to me at present. Who knows what the future holds.

It will look awesome, Murl. I have a lilac striped shirt (not of Inglese quality) that I like quite a bit, but purple shirts seem to draw a lot of flak here.

I seem to recall a certain prolific poster on SF not particularly caring for pocket squares at one point... :)

I don't think you will get any slack for a lilac stripe....solid lilac/purple, that's tougher to pull off.

Also, @Isolation, if you have the time at some point, would you mind measuring the chest, waist and hips of your jackets. I'm curious what difference more subtle adjustments might make. If you have a jacket made with maybe one inch more in the waist (1/2 inch half-waist measurement), it could be an interesting experience. Worst case you don't like it and get it taken in.

I'm a fan of off-white shirts. I have a couple that are wearing out and intend to get a couple more.

Excellent answers! I really like the two purple shirt and I didn't think solid purple was a necessary color to have. I was conflicted on which shade of pink to get as well, especially #3 and #4.

What are your opinions on checkered shirts? I haven't seen any here or in the HOF: WAYWRN thread.. I don't think I've seen one in the 20 thumbs thread!

I was wondering if these were necessary to have:
