Would be better as a suit IMO.

Michelangelo is the Isaia factory that makes Eidos as well. All machine but well made. One thing is that they make fully-canvassed as well as half-canvassed, so if that's something that's important to you, you may want to check.

Really hard to say much about fit from the pic, but agree with g that its more of a suit fabric. I had a similar sportcoat, and I found it very hard to use so I sold it. Best of luck with yours!

The other week, my wife commented that I should get pocket squares. Instead of saying "no more jackets," she rules against blue jackets specifically.

Today I went to the Brooks Brother outlet (got a sweet tie carrying case) after enduring four hours of shopping with visiting in laws. My wife was able to pick out the only three worthwhile ties they were carrying, no help from me.

I'm very proud of her. She's a good SF wife. Not on Mrs. EFV level. But I'm happy.

I'm looking to get an overcoat for my spouse at some point. How are the SS cashmere ones? And what's their tailor service like? I'm guessing sleeves may need shortening. Should I phone in to get the size (32-34) sent to the London branch before I go?

My wife just thinks I'm nuts.

Speaking of Brooks Brothers, are there any young Noodlers out there that need a couple good Brooks Brothers ties? I bought them a few years ago when I was still figuring things out...don't think I ever wore them.

MRMstl, I agree with gdl and stitches but from what we can see in the photos the fit looks good.

    Interesting--thanks for all the feedback.

Curious why this would be such a difficult SC to pair? One of the things that appealed to me was that I thought it would be fairly versatile.

    Really value the insight--thanks again.

You can only shorten the sleeves from the shoulders due to the working cuffs, which is something I wouldn't do. The coats are very nice, I wear the same size as my suit size.

Actually a mid grey or charcoal business suit will go a longer way since it's more compatible with Noodles' conservative job and personal style.

I am teh sorry, Murl, I dont like red ties like that.

My wife would prefer that I stop kopping entirely. She is not being unreasonable. I am going to even try and put the kibosh on it as best I can.

I don't like them either, which is why I've never worn them. I think someone bought them for me as a gift....I don't quite remember to be honest. For a young guy with limited funds trying to get his business wardrobe started, you could do much worse. I was just offering them up for anyone who needed them.

Our wives are drinking the same kool-aid. I won't be buying much in 2015 either....

I thought he went into work without bringing a jacket frequently? Surely a navy flannel suit would be appropriate for an environment that allows wearing just trousers and a shirt? A blzaer suit would allow him to wear it as a suit during the weekdays, and as a blazer during the weekends. It would ensure the suit gets worn more than once a month. Anyways, I'm sure Noodles knows what's best for him by now, after getting more than a year of dedicated advice.

I don't know if it will be difficult to pair in the sense of using it with a dark tie etc., but those who commented on it will probably feel like it's an orphan suit coat and in that way, look off were they to wear it (which is why I suspect Stitches got rid of his). Compare a solid mid gray flannel jacket which might seem like a good idea, but isn't. You want stronger patterns in an SC and so a stronger houndstooth or check.

But the rest of the world outside of the forum will not notice. If it fits well, and you pop on a navy grenadine and good square, people will think you look smart.
