Noodlers, I'm thinking about another pair of shoes. Among my dress rotation, I have:

    --black captoe oxfords
    --black chelsea boots
    --brown brogued wingtips
    --dark brown longwing bluchers
    --dark brown pebble grain boots
--mid-brown wholecuts in a lightweight calf grain
--bitter chocolate (dark brown) suede double monks

In slightly more casual construction, I've got walnut (light brown) chukkas, dark brown venetian loafers, and some "casual leather" brogued wingtips (AE Neumoks).

What would you do next? I'm tempted by a brogued oxford in some kind of snuff suede, but perhaps also a single monk in brown calf leather. Shoes are a complementary rather than a primary focus of fit construction for me, so I'm happy to be guided by wiser heads.

Guide me--what looks good with a jacket & tie? I'm especially interested in shoes for spring/summer, so this could be a productive direction to go....

Check out AE's Randolph. I have a pair in burgundy that I wear with a jacket and tie. They one of my favorite pairs of shoes to be honest, although with the expansion of my collection they don't get as much play as they used to. Also, check out a Weejun style for a more casual look. They are very Trad Ivy which you know I like. I have a pair similar to Weejuns but but from a different maker than Bass.

Or if you're feeling really adventurous, go for a classic white buck. And yes, people used to wear these with jackets and ties back in the day. [IMG]

It (white bucks)rarely looked good then. It'll rarely look good now. Hashtag onemansopinion.

But the suggestion of loafers is a good one. Check out Kent Wang's handgrade.

@heldentenor, life without chocolate brown suede chukkas is like a broken pencil.
    Pointless.

Think I'll look into some loafers for the spring/summer and get a brown suede chukka w/dainite sole when fall rolls around again.

Kent Wang's stuff looks pretty nice, and with the exchange rate at its current favorable level, might be time to try some Carminas.

@Caustic Man , I think those bucks are required for Louisville fans and forbidden to everyone else.

    Thanks, all.

You need mid brown suede shoes to go with your odd jackets, styling is up to you but I'd skip loafers if I were you. Not sure it works with your personal style as observed.

Agreed, and I think a smart, sleek suede chukka is my next buy. Would like to add a pair of loafers for the summer as well, since I do break out a bit of a lighter look from June-August.

    Disgusting.

Also, I can't stand sleek and chiseled chukkas!

You need a Norweger or some version of a split toe on a nice round or soft chiseled last.

Funny, I agree with both of you.
Then again, I love my chiseled toe chukkas, so I have no right to speak on the matter....
