Of course jailbreak it ASAP so you can get non-approved apps and AppStore apps for free.

Edit: Once jailbroken, download Backgrounder so you can manage which apps are running and when. Also download the app that allows you to use Skype and Sling with 3G, not only Wifi.

Downloaded stanza. It's awesome.

There are actually a couple good remotes from what I recall. I think they're paid programs though. Airmouse is one I think.

Also, keep an eye out for Spotify to make it to the US (supposedly later this year). Been reading good things about it.

Here's a tip if you listen to Pandora radio. Not sure if it works in Canada but apparently the 40 hours free limit doesn't work on the iPhone so you can use it to avoid their paid subscription.

airmouse looks pretty slick. I'm gonna try it tonight. the annoying thing about what i'm using is the volume controls. you have to keep tapping. holding doesn't work. in another one i tried you can hold it down but it doesn't accelerate, so it's still really slow.

edit: I've been testing out air mouse. For windows media center, it works, but it's a little clumsy. Just like the other app I tried, you have to keep tapping the screen to change the volume. If you just hold the button down it doesn't work, which is super annoying. My bigger grip is that it tries to keep the mouse functionality within media center. There is no need and they take up half the screen resolution with the trackpad, when instead they should just have 4 arrow keys with Select in the center, and big volume and channel buttons. They already have big play/forward/back buttons. The mouse functionality works superbly in windows, but it's just not needed within the media center interface and it makes things much more difficult than necessary.

Still don't get it. Can you give me an example of what it does?

It gives out notifications for applications running in the background or a different space. For example, you can have Skype in space 1 and Firefox downloading a file in Space 2 while you're working on a Word doc in Space 3. Growl will let you know if someone has Skyped you or the download is finished so you won't have to keep switching spaces to check. I use it for Viscosity (OpenVPN client), Firefox, Adium, Skype, iTunes and a few others.

Has anyone ever had an app stuck in "loading" on the iphone? It seems like it was something i was trying to install (can't even remember what), but the progress is stuck at 0%.it's just there as an icon that I can't delete or move. I probably need to fix it by resetting but I was hoping to avoid that b/c I think i'll need to jailbreak or unlock it again, which I haven't read up on yet since I bought the phone already jailbreaked/unlocked.

I've run into this problem before. Couple of possible fixes:

1) Go to the app's iTunes store page. If the Install option is available, go for it. It should fix the problem.

2) If the app page says the app is already installed but the icon is still stuck on loading, it may be because you started using WiFi to download an app larger than 10 MB and then cut the connection. The app now refuses to continue downloading by 3G because of its size. Connect to WiFi to resume the download.

I stopped searching after option #2 b/c that solved my problem. Good luck.

I ended up just doing a restore from iTunes bc I had Bo clue what app it was. I didn't even notice it until this morning after my iPhone died overnight from a 75% charge. It's all fixed now although I have to resync all my music tonight.

Thx Though
