YF,
It is exactly like tyng your shoes, but on your neck.

Keep your index finger in the back loop to tighten.

You will tighten with the loops, then use the single ends to even out. Or not.

I would practice it on someones wrist a few times, then move to your neck.

Advanced, is tying them while driving, or tying them on someone else.
My highschool english teacher taught me.
I was a professional violinist for years, so I had to tie one every night....its fun.

I find it is better not to think of it as a knot, because lets be honest it is a pretty ineffectual one, its more like a tangle really. Also there are two ways to do it- not two knots but two ways to tie it, at least that I have come across, and I found one much easier than the other.
It is something every man should know how to do, in my first year of university I had to tie the ties of every guy on my corridor before the first ball, it was a bit pathetic really.

The video is pretty good, that's how I do it.

The tip about exposing the gap is priceless.

I've watched that video many times - generally a couple of hours before attending a black tie event

I practiced on my thigh, closer to my neck size and I don't need anyone else.

To me, this is the KEY to the entire process. I was watching videos and they would mention shoving the last piece through some gap in the back that you would feel around for. If you pull the flaps forward, the gap exposes itself.
