I still haven't mastered my sartorial instincts and need some help. I was offered 1 suit and 7 sport coats/blazers for $500. All items appear to be in good shape, I just don't know how old they are. Is this a good deal or a rip-off. Here are the names and descriptions from left to right: (I can add more pics if necessary)

1) Hart Schaffner Marx (Gold Trumpeter) for Nordstroms 2-button suit - black stripe
2) Hickey Freeman for Nordstroms - black blazer
3) Hart Schaffner Marx for Nordstroms - blue blazer
4) Corneliani Collection CC - light gray sport coat
5) Hickey Freeman for Nordstroms - charcoal wool plaid sport coat
6) J Press - brown wool (twill) sport coat
7) Southwick for Nordstroms - light/pale tan sport coat
8) Neiman Marcus - grey/white check sport coat

Thanks for the advice/help!

who or wear are you buying them from some of the stuff can be purchased at thrift stores for a couple bucks. At face value sounds liek a good deal, but i wonder about the source,

I used to get tons of HSM stuff at thrift stores for 5-15 for a suit

Are you buying these to wear them or to re-sell them?

If the former, do they fit you?

If you've answered both of these "yes", then I think it's a good deal.

I would be buying from a guy moving into a smaller apartment, who lost weight and no longer fits them. Seems like a pretty reputable source...he had a Gucci (Tom Ford) suit for sale as well, if that says anything.

I would be buying to wear them, being that they fit perfectly. I've tried all of them on, not many if any alterations needed. Should I consider selling some?

Let's see:
  1. They all fit you very well
  2. Average price: $62.50
  3. All in good (or better) condition
I'd say you're getting a hell of a deal. Not only due the above, but you're also getting some wardrobe staples as well as a few more interesting patterns, but nothing too wild or dated. Ok, maybe try and flip the black sport coat...

Unless you really like the collection, I don't think there's anything in there you couldn't get in a thrift store for less. He's asking way too much; I don't think he'd be able to get near that amount selling this on ebay. I'd be more inclined to just buy one or two.
