i've got at least 4 pairs of cords from Barry Bricken purchased off STP. highly highly recommended. if you wait until the end of the season, usually around later winter/early spring, you'll get the best discounts. all the cords i've purchased have been in the $30-40 range when according to STP, they retail for anywhere from $150-200.

either way, i'd check there first. they've got other brands too like Lambourne and Corneliani, etc.

otherwise, you can frequent the Buying and Selling forum for cords that fellow SFers may be offering.

i hesitated too long on a pair of Paul Smith cords recently. arrrgh...

I have two pair of the Lambourne, just got them back from the tailor today. Theyre pretty heavy fabric, and right now feel quite stiff (though I'm sure they'll loosed up after a few wearings). I have a feeling that I'll be loving them once the weather cools a bit.

I just bought a pair of Lambourne's from STP, $42 shipped. If you checkout using Google Checkout, they knock $10 off your order. Can't report on them yet, but many other posts attest to this brand's quality.

anyone know where i can get thin wale trousers? Like say a 14 wale? I really can't get into wide wale cords.

Ditto! The wider wale the wale, the more formal the cords look to me. It's impossible to find high-quality, fine-wale cords...

Probably not what you're looking for, but I'm very happy with my Seven For All Mankind 5-pocket cords from last year.

Loro Piana makes an excellent cord pant, too, but they cost as much as wool Zanellas!

STP. i've got two pairs of thin wale cords from Barry Bricken. they're great. my only gripe is that they're hard to iron.

I recently bought 2 pairs of Lambourne cords on STP. The construction and fit were great. They're still at the tailor for hemming so I don't know yet how they are "in action", but I think that I'll be very happy. They are definitely a fall/winter pant though - very substantial fabric.

I bought some Polo Made in Italy ones from Marshall's for $100. Ben Silver has many in their fall catalog for $145, and they also have plenty on their factory outlet page for about $75.
