Good casual looks with a bowtie or skinny tie

Would love to hear from SF members of their favorite casual ensembles to go with either a bowtie or a skinny tie. Photos would be great (either of yourself or anyone else wearing one), or else descriptions of the type of clothes that go well with such ties. I am looking to expand my fashion palette a bit and would really appreciate any pointers. BTW (this may or may not be relevant) I have a fairly muscular build - 5'9'' height, 16.5' neck, 45' chest, 34' waist and 32' inseam. Either casual or dandy-esque would be great.

No offensive but I don't see muscular build and skinny tie working together so well. At best I find it trendy if not tacky, at worst well...

as far as bowties go, i usually wear them with a cardigan and slim fit khakis or jeans. its sort of a college professor look, but i like to think im skinny and look young enough to pull it off.

as far as skinny ties, knit ties ware probably your best bet as they as more casual to begin with. try them with a ocbd or the like.

no offense to JO3b, but that isn't a good casual bowtie look

the crewneck sweater is really off, I dont like that stiched "V", looks like athletic wear for gymclass, and the crewneck makes the tie look like a big fat butterfly stuck on your neck. or worse like a gift ribbon

^^ the "V" is the classic sweater style, so if a crew neck sweater is worn, it should look like that imo. The athletic associations makes it a bit too casual for a bow tie though.

Sigh, why do people hate on skinny ties so much? They just look better on some people than 3.5 or 3.75" ties.

I love skinny ties (2-2.5&quot, dont think the hate is on the actual ties....I'm just leery of how they end up being worn for that "casual" look. and it def doesnt look good, regardless of how well it's worn, on muscular builds.

i don't not like skinny ties but i prefer normal ties. I usually wear the ties with a blazer or a cardigan. As a matter of fact about 2 days ago i wore a tie with a v neck argyle sweater it was very nice.

I think a nice shirt, a skinnier tie, slim chinos/jeans, and purcells is a rather timeless look.

So what would be an example of a casual look with a skinny tie? I assume a tie automatically makes something a bit more than casual, assuming we are not entering the world of douchebags and polo w/ tie ensembles.

I have a Viktor & Rolf sweater/sweatshirt that is based on an athletic item that could work with a bowtie.
