Hey all,

I'm mostly a jeans and t-shirt guy but I'm thinking of adding some button-ups to my repetoire. Any suggestions? They must be relatively cheap and preferably available online.

How cheap you want it? American Eagle's online store has a wide selection of button ups, so does Ambercrombie and Fitch.

What do you think of button-ups that are "shiny"? You know, the ones, that are (or look like) they're made of silk. Are those too gawdy too be worn with jeans?

You should try plaid button-ups.

Where I am, I'm on the only guy wearing plaid, so it stands out a bit. Solid color button ups are too blue-collar mid-american, while stripes only makes you look very typically trendy.

The favorite one I have is a slim rl blue label, which is a very british tartan blue-red-green. I also have an more flannelly custom fit from their regular polo line. Re-done grunge.

A silk button-up? I think that's too gawdy to wear with anything.

I beg to differ. Solids looks the best when worn with a slim fit.

I really liked some RL plaids from last season, but the problem is they aren't slim cut. If they fit through the body, the arms are too short.

Agree with flame on well fitted solids. They aren't middle america, and they never go out of style.

How do you feel about spending money on non-essential goods during the Covid-19 crisis?

  • I don't want to spend money at a time of economic uncertainty, even if I could afford it.

  • I feel compelled to spend to help small businesses that are struggling.

  • I reduced my budget for non-essential goods and I'm not spending at the moment.

  • Not much has changed for me and I'm still buying stuff I can't afford.
