They reran Goldeneye yet again on Showtime yesterday. When Bond leaves the airport when he gets to Russia, he is wearing an overcoat and it was very, very nice. Does anyone know which clothing company was used for the movie?

I have the book on Bond's clothing "Dressed to Kill", and they cover this issue in glorious detail. He wears Brioni suits throughout, including a Saxony in the office Interview with M scene and a muted blue windowpane in the Moscow arrival scene (Samsonite paid to provide his luggage in that scene, and they had to fudge it into the script: it's a bit incongruous that he's carrying two large cases of a type that are obviously intended to be checked, directly off of an arriving BA jet, with no jetway yet). His shoes are Church's, his ties identified as "woven silk", and the coat is IDed as a Brioni in cashmere. The costume designer for the last four Bonds was and is a woman named Lindy Hemmings (she's interviewed on the Die Another Day Special Edition DVD). She took some flak for the tie and ascot choices for Goldeneye, and you'll note that his subsequent films have him in very muted ties, no pocket silks, and no ascots.

Brioni has made the Bond connection a very big deal, including issuing a book, and a poster that shows Brosnan on a T-55 tank with an AK74SU Krinkov assault rifle, wearing a marine blue nailhead single breasted.

There you go, more than you probably wanted to know.

All the info was great, thanks.

Also, if you have something to say in a paragraph, but say it in one sentence, you are not trying hard enough.

Well, if he was outfitted by Brioni, the overcoat from that time would have been Hetterbritz (sp?)--now the overcoats are made by Sforza, a significant step down.

Along the same lines as Dressed to Kill, there's a great book called "James Bond's London" that deals a bit with the clothing worn by Ian Flemming, the literary Bond, and the cinema Bond.

I really like the medium/ight gray Prince of Wales pattern suit he is wearing in M's office. After I get my charcoal gray Zegna, I'm going to look and see if Zegna has a pattern like that.
