Gold Watches or Silver Watches?

What's your watch style? I love gold watches, I think they go with everything, but I can't deny a stainless steel silver tone watch either. Do you think stainless steel watches are more versatile or leather bands?

this is just a personal view: the tricky things with watch straps (leather) is that they need to match the tone range of other leathers you might wear, say shoes etc. The same rule (can) apply to metals, I typically don't wear gold belt buckles bc all my time pieces are steel or ceramic. So for me steel is the most versatile. That being said I really want a gold submariner ceramic next.

From a use standpoint, metal and rubber bracelets are the most versatile as you dont need to take them off if you plan on getting wet (swimming)

I am a stainless steel guy all the way. It is more durable and goes with every leather color. That said, I think rubber and leather bands can look very nice as well. My belt buckles and cufflinks are also silver/steel toned.

I find silver to be much more versatile. In terms of watches silver with a white face is the most neutral look possible. Goes with just about anything.

Except when other details on an outfit involve brass or gold tones. Really, any time brown is involved I dislike silver.

The correct answer is both. I'm not going to be wearing a gold watch with a brown band when I'm wearing a charcoal suit, black shoes, and a belt with a shiny steel buckle, and I'm not going to wear a steel watch with a black band when I'm wearing khaki.

No such thing as neutral in this case, unless you have a watch that incorporates both colors. If you wear both black and brown leathers with both silver and gold toned metals, you need to have both to match appropriately. Gold is an earthtone. Silver isn't. Why would you abandon basic color principles just because the colors involved are now shiny?

I wear yellow gold mostly, but have a steel for sports wear.
