If someone is selling it on the street, it's fake.

So what do you guys recommend shopping? Specifically looking for places somewhat exclusive to NYC, i.e. NOT American Eagle (wtf?) and other run of the mill **** like that.

Go to Madison Avenue - you'll find all sorts of shops that are somewhat exclusive to NYC. Just bring a huge wallet full of money.

DO NOT drive a car in Manhattan. It's painful.

For shopping, rent a car one day and drive out to Woodbury Commons outlet mall. It's awesome. Manhattan shops are just not affordable for most.

Eat at Junior's for breakfast or lunch & have their famous cheesecake.

You must go to Central Park. Go see a Broadway show.

Columbus Circle is nice, and then go have a drink at the Asian restaurant at the top of the Mandarin Oriental Hotel. Amazing view of the city and central park.

go see some cool stuff and don't stress about making it through everything. You could spend a lifetime in NYC and never see it all, so pick a few great things and enjoy! try wikitravel, tripadviser, etc...

Make sure you get a real NY slice while you're there.

Take the bus from the Port Authority...It's not nice to ask a guest to drive in Manhattan!

Just rent and leave Manhattan immediately!

I found it better to take a car because you can go back to it and drop your stuff off intermittently so that you don't have to carry it around with you. If you take a bus, you don't have that luxury.

Or go to Jersey Gardens in Elizabeth, NJ. A lot of the same stuff as Woodbury Commons, and a lot closer.
