1. And... we're back. You'll notice that all of your images are back as well, as are our beloved emoticons, including the infamous :foo: We have also worked with our server folks and developers to fix the issues that were slowing down the site.

There is still work to be done - the images in existing sigs are not yet linked, for example, and we are working on a way to get the images to load faster - which will improve the performance of the site, especially on the pages with a ton of images, and we will continue to work diligently on that and keep you updated.

    Cheers,

I almost wept the other night listening to Velvet Undergroun'd self-titled album on some unremarkable Canadian pressing. I felt a bit sad for having wasted so many hundreds of listens on countless CD players and iPods. I didn't know the music actually had a soul.

This afternoon I rocked a first press of X's "Under the Big Black Sun" and I was actually drawn to treating it like a concert performance. The guitars roared, I could hear the air moving from the bass drum, and for a solid 45 minutes I felt like the music was fucking alive, man!

Now I'm listening to Claudio Arrau play Debussy. The Steinway is making me want to take up meditation.

    FUCK YOU 1s and 0s!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I haven't done any A/B'ing, but I'm very happy with my old Marantz 2285, a pair of KEF 103s from the early 80s, a Thorens TD165 turntable and an Apogee Duet 2 whenever I feel like listening to digital with more oomph.
