A few days of humble home cooked meals…

Meanwhile I'm here enjoying foods just as healthy without stressing about red herrings and nobody else on here seems to care. Eating healthy is great, eating home cooked meals is great, but the fact that I'm eating GMOs and you aren't means only one thing: I'm not paying double the price for my food.

Home cooked meals are basically cheaper and healthier than processed foods. Most process foods are GMO, but the fruits and vegetables in home cooked meals are basically not GMO, with only a couple of exceptions. Food for me has become more interesting and much cheaper.

Home cooked meals are wonderful.

Where and how are you mixing up "processed" with "GMO"?

I and almost everyone I know home cook almost every single meal We eat so I fail to see how GMO has anything to do with it. I eat hardly any processed foods too. The only non-fresh things I eat are splenda in my tea, the occasional ice cream, canned fish (fresh is very expensive, buy fresh salmon when I can), my protein shakes and the occasional pre-made sauce, marinade or gravy mix. Everything else I eat is fresh vegetables, fresh meats and fresh-cooked grains. I get 100% of my daily everything included mono and polyunsaturated fats, vitamins and minerals, whole grains, fibre, protein along with plenty of anti-oxidants. What exactly is eating non-GMO foods going to offer me in the health department that I don't have covered?

Like I said, home cooking meals and eating healthy is great, but having a balanced diet rich in healthy nutrients is way more important than stressing about whether something is GMO or not. Focus on the former and you'll live long and well. Focus on the latter and you'll get distracted and miss out on the things you should be paying attention to.

What exactly is eating non-GMO foods going to offer me in the health department that I don't have covered?

That is the question that many people are wondering about (including yourself). I am not going to answer that, but if you wish to do an experiment to find out...This is an interesting way to do just that.

On a similar note maybe this thread would be better served as a Traditional home cooking thread. What do you think?

I am lucky that my parents keep a garden in their old age or I would get almost nothing healthy in my diet.

And GM food Just scares me... Genetically Inserting "growth accelerants" and "resistant properties" to food cannot be healthy.
I did allot of reading on the science behind it and i understand there is ALLOT of precision involved. BUT Once its made there is no getting rid of it (its self propagating).
so if a problem is found down the road there is no going back :/ maybe i am just paranoid, but tampering with nature in this way just seems risky.
Not to mention that experimental wheat strain that escaped the control area......
