Glue: Is it bad for my shoes?

Some of you are familiar with my recent drama involving a three month old pair of Aldens that had the heel worn down past the dovetail. The leather was also degrading in some places. I took it to a cobbler, or a technician in the cobbler spectrum, and he took off the leather / dovetail 'plate' of the heel, and glued on a rubber replacement (about half a cm thick).

Is it going to be difficult to work on my heel in the future because of this glue? And when your Topys start wearing away, is it hard to replace them?

I think you are making things a lot harder than they should be. Don't use topy's, get toe and heel taps, and then when you wear down the soles get the whole sole and heel replaced. If you have a regular rotation of shoes this shouldn't be that frequently that you need to stress over it.

Can the rubber heal be replaced with a leather dovetail heal in the future? Yes.

The rubber / glue can be ground off as a last resort if the glue can not be removed.
