I am ordering my first pair of bespoke gloves from Chester Jeffries. I think I may have a garbage pair from last year, but otherwise I am gloveless. What would you suggest, both in material and style? I know some of you have ordered from there before. Chester Jeffries offers:

Capeskin
Calfskin
Deerskin
Sheepskin
Lamb
Hogskin
Pigskin
Suede Lambskin

And linings include:

Silk
Cashmere
Wool
Cmaois
Lam
Fur
Cotton Fleece
Thinsulate

Is this for daily use, for work, weekends?

Hey I'm planning to do exactly the same thing.

I emailed Chester Jefferies to request a catalogue and order form a little while ago but haven't heard anything yet.

I was going to go for a pair in dark brown peccary/hogskin with a cashmere lining.

Yes for daily use. No for work, as I don't do any outdoor work (apartment living negates it). Yes, for weekends as well. I dress business casual pretty much all the time. Oh, and I may order a second pair after delivery of the first.

Tobacco carpincho, astrakhan trim, cashmere lining.

The best gloves I currently own come from Gerard Durand, although I just bought vintage deadstock Sulka gloves in mocha calf that are very soft. Still looking for hand-stitched kid.

I usually only wear chamois gloves in their natural color otherwise, I prefer tight as a German officer black leather gloves.

I like the tight black leather too, with a silk lining.

Sorry for the ignorant question, but how does one measure oneself to have bespoke gloves made? Or must you be within the area of a craftsman and have them do this for you?

For some reason, the thought of "hand turkeys" sprang to mind.

I ask this as one who has difficulty finding close fitting gloves for his dainty hands.

You should send it in as a turkey anyway just for laughs.
