Glenplaid Suit, Checked Shirt?

Is this too many patterns?

I kind of like the look from afar, but up close it does start to cross my eyes. Then again I am going blind.

Depends on how strong the suit pattern is I suppose.

You'd probably want to go for a solid tie.

Its fairly muted. Its a BB Fitzgerald that is dark-brown/gray-ish, with a fine light blue window-pane. It is not as bold, to my eye, as the black and white glenplaids.

I was going to go for either a blue-checked or black-checked shirt with a red-woven tie.

Its not so much the names of the patterns, but the scale of the patterns. big/small OK. big/big no.
