I watched the Pilot yesterday, can't really get into it. I feel its really meant for occupiers who dream of going to NYC with a **** degree and thinking they'll make it. :hide:

Why do you think Kunk and Mordecai love it so much?

I don't know how the series evolves past the pilot, I just saw a lot of broke young hipster adults talking about their parents supporting them, complaining, and some girl fawning over her European cousin for being so hip.

My coworker and I were chatting about this show yesterday, and specifically about how people have objected both to the portrayal of snotty young people partly living off of their parents' dime and to the fact that a lot of the actresses are children of famous (or semi-famous) people. This seems rather distinct from the response to, say, Friends; we all pointed out that it was utter bullshit that those people could live like that in New York with their jobs, but nobody seemed all that offended by this. My claim was that Girls (wittingly or unwittingly) has been really good at pointing out how sanguine we are about an ideology that we know to be bullshit (you can be economically comfortable while chasing you dreams or whatever) simply by being brutally honest (it's better when you have parents who will fund you). My coworker took this to be more a matter of generic difference--different spots on the sliding scale of realism. I suppose our takes weren't mutually exclusive.
