Found this old thread when trying to answer the same question.

Here in Hong Kong, this is a popular value brand for tailors to push.

After doing extensive research including talking to local tailors, internet scouring, and, ultimately, calling the local 'distributor' of this brand itself, I figured out what is going on with Giorgio Vallino (GV).

Turns out that, despite being labeled as "100% Italian Wool" in the fabric books, the only thing remotely Italian about it is the silly fake Italian name.

GV is a brand that is sold by the HK company Long Wear Hong Co., which is based in TST, Hong Kong.

So, where does the wool come from? Well, it's made by another decidedly non-Italian mill: Samsung (formerly branded as Cheil Industries).

This is not to say that the fabric is low-quality, however, and Cheil/Samsung has been making high-quality wool fabric since 1956 using Australian and Mongolian Merino. The GV 130s uses Aussie and Mongolian merino of not greater than 19.5 microns (other top brands like Zenga use 15.8 micron wool) and has a nice sheen and hand feel (in my opinion better than the 120s VBC, which is more expensive).

Anyway, hope this helps others make a decision whether or not to go with GV when they come across it. It certainly is sold at a good price point here in HK and is comparable to many VBC swatches I've felt/seen.
