Assume a medium size gingham check, one that would be appropriate for business wear, like this:

Are you working on a gingham shirt? I think either is fine but I nearly always prefer BD for shirts with prominent patterns.

Prefer BD, but would wear a point (esp with a tie). Gingham is casual to me. Or creative biz. or whatever you want to call it.

no spread collar option? i really like the contrast of a more formal collar with something less formal like gingham. i'm having 2 made in the next month actually

+1 Tall Spread, for the contrast with the casual fabric. I have one from Pink in this style, and it goes well with navy and tan suits.

Ive currently got one on order from Jantzen and chose the point collar. I dont like button down collars with ties, so having the point gives me more versatility to wear with or without a tie.

The only gingham I have is slightly smaller than your picture and has a spread collar. The spread isn't as pronounced as it could be (and certainly doesn't approach cutaway collar status), but I really like the juxtoposition of it against the gingham. It's a vineyard vines shirt, for reference.

I only wear spread collars and that wasn't a choice so I guess I wouldn't wear them.
