Pretty new at this. Sorry if this is posted in the wrong place. Let me know if that's the case.

Could you gentlemen tell me if the gingham is too busy with the chalk stripe? Should I be going with a solid shirt instead?

Thanks for the help.

Sorry, doesn't work for me. If the stripes were spaced a little futher apart and and the check smaller it would be better. I'd also look for more tonal difference between the shirt and suit. I.e., a paler check significantly ligher than the suit's cloth. A pale pink check of small scale could look very nice.

if the scale of the gingham was much smaller, it'll be perfect. vox posted not too long ago a perfect example

As noted above, I'd choose a gingham check with a slightly smaller pattern.

However, yes, I think that gingham is an absolutely classic choice with chalkstripes and I wear them together a lot.

Don't like it - it's a mullet. The shirt says summer and the flannel chalk stripe says winter.

Are 3 piece suits better in flannel than worsted?

Love that one.

I think its not bad, but as others have noted, the 'problem' is that the scale of the pattern on the shirt is too close to the scale of the pattern on the suit. So it would be better if one of the patterns was bigger or smaller.

It's classic.

Who the **** is going to measure the check/stripe size ratio anyway.
