Gin. Plymouth would be my first choice. Cognac/brandy next, then Rum. I could do without vodka.

You can combine vodka with any damn thing you please (up to and including Jamba Juice smoothies), or drink the better stuff on its own. Winner.

Gin and dark rum(sometime white Wray and Nephew). Vodka is for annoying college girls, Apple Martini drinkers.

I absolutely hate most gins but there are a couple that I found ok. The taste to me is usually just way too harsh and medicine like.

Rum is ok but I had some awful episodes with rum in college so the smell makes me a bit queezy at first.

Therefore by process I'm going with vodka. I'm no college girl however and I'd love for someone to say that to my face.

Your recommendation of it was what got me interested in it, so thanks.

I would have thought that was the case if it wasn't for the rum -- who drinks light rum, other than as a mixer? What about Gin, Vodka, and Tequila? Even the Anjeos are fairly light. ~ H

My problem with vodka is two-fold. First, it doesn't have the depth of...any other spirit. Gin certainly has more nuance, as does rum (though my experience is very limited). Second, the connotations carried with vodka are that of shots taken at frat parties coupled with astrigent flavor simply in order to get drunk. This is not exactly a connoisseur's drink.
