I work on a team of about 12 guys, we want to get a gift for our manager and we're thinking ties. He's not the best dressed so he may be happier recieving a lesser quality tie with a better know name.

Any suggestions? I guess we're looking in the $80-$150 range.

I don't think that's a good idea:

1) It might telegraph to him, "We don't think you are a good dresser."

2) Ties are a rather personal choice.

3) He'd feel compelled to wear it to work, whether he likes it or not.

If he is a drinker, in your price range I would buy him a nice bottle of premium vodka or scotch. Or if he is a family guy, a food basket for his entire family.

Well, first and foremost, do you know any of his interests? Secondly, does he even wear a tie? A better choice is to give him a gift card to his favorite restaurant, store, etc. Additionally, if he drinks, a bottle of his favorite beverage and an accompanying glass is usually par for the course in my experience.

I bought our director a champagne gift basket on steroids.
