I don't think it's weird; it's just a more casual look. I noticed that Pete had some shorter ones in the 40, 41, 42 size range, and he'll probably have more later. I've found that my two overcoats in Size 42 fit perfectly over my Size 42 jackets. However, I have, on occasion, seen advice to the effect that you should move up a size. I just haven't found that to be the case. If you're the right size (41), you might consider the Gianluca coat that Pete has. If you're concerned about fit over a jacket, you could ask Pete for more measurements, although several are given in the listing. It's a herringbone weave in what would look like midnight blue (dark navy) and is listed at $429 or best offer. I'd be inclined to think that an offer around $350 might take it. It's pretty close to mine, and I'm happy with mine. It lacks the hand-stitching a top-line Isaia would have, but really looks first-rate.

Not weird, but I think only a complete buffoon would think it inappropriate, pretentious or overly formal for a junior associate or executive to wear something as innocuous as a full length topcoat. (A chesterfield, maybe -- but even so, they'd have to have a stick way up there to pay any mind to that). I think full-length is a tad more versatile (I'm not nuts about knee-length with black tie, for example), so if I only had one proper topcoat, I'd make it full-, but in the end, it doesn't really matter much either way.

You kids, you worry too much about work-appropriate clothing. Add value, and no one really gives a ****. Do you guys remember what the hell your colleagues were wearing today? No. Oh alright you do -- but it's only because you guys are so unnaturally obsessed. Beyond the basic parameters of professional dress, normal people don't care. (Spare me, MIC)
