If you are a client or a friend, Giacomo passed away Wednesday March 18.

Giacomo was a Maestro. Dressed most of Hollywood from heads of studios to actors for decades. He was a past president of the CTDA and shared his knowledge freely with anyone who needed help. A good man.

That's too bad. I was hoping to go in and meet him one day. A friend of mine owns a business on the same block as Trabalza's shop and he often spoke highly of him - as a person (he wasn't a customer).

At 59, Enzo Caruso is now the remaining legitimate Italian bespoke alternative in Los Angeles

Enzo had only kind words for Signore Trabalza when we last spoke back in December

Any update on whether Trabalza trained an apprentice to take over the business?

This is Giacomo on the right. The gentleman in the center is a tailor from Rome. At the time he was president of a very large Italian Tailoring Organization, I do not recall his name or the organizations name. Photo was taken about 6 or 7 years ago. One of Giacomo's stories. The first time he worked for A.S., Arnold was training for a body building competition. Arnold was measured and by time the fitting was ready he had put on 6 inches around his chest. When he tried on the jacket, all the seams tore open. Giacomo could only watch and say "mama mia!!" Giacomo said it took him 3 days to figure out how to make a pattern to fit Arnold's body.

But he did exceed the current average life span for a white man (which 79 years) by eight years. He also lived a phenomenal life. But still, I am very saddened (even though I knew nothing about him other than what I have heard on AAAC, LL and SF).

From what I have heard on AAAC, LL and SF, he was a phenomenal man and a phenomenal tailor. He will absolutely be missed.

I'm very sad to hear about the death of Giacomo Trabalza.

He made me several things over the years, most of which I still wear regularly. He was very gracious, generous with his time and had a deep and abiding passion for his trade that never left him. It was an inspiration for me to know a man with such enthusiasm. He was also a very fine tailor.

Does he leave someone to whom I may pay my respects?

Yes, his wife and son. Call the shop-talk to Maria-she is devastated.
