Getting one shoe made MTO

Does anybody know if it is possible to have one shoe made? For example if you damage one shoe, or the leather cracks in one shoe can you put in an order for a new left or right shoe? Do you think it would cost exactly half of a new pair? Just curious.

I see no reason why not, if it is being made to order, rather than being poached from a pair that's ready to sell. Unless the factory wouldn't want to deplete their supply of leather without maximizing the use of it.

But this seems foolish, even if your intent is to save an otherwise trashed pair of shoes. The shoe will never be evenly worn, and they will be uncomfortable and affect your gait.
