Getting Borrelli shirts altered- Is that dumb?

I've been eyeing some Borrelli shirts on ebay, and there is one in particular that I really want, but the sleeves are a 36/37 when I am roughly a 34/35. So I'll probably need to get those fixed. But I was just wondering should I even get a hand-stitched shirt just to have it machine altered? That just seems like it would defeat the purpose of having a Borrelli. Thoughts?

I have the same problem. Borrelli shirts are great for slim fit, but they run a little long on the sleeves. Are there any similar shirts with their fit but shorter sleeves?

This is one reason I don't put much stock in handwork in RTW shirts.

That said, if I found a shirt I liked and it needed alterations, I would not hesitate to get them done, handwork or no. Sleeves shortened, sides taken in, whatever. Can't be a slave to our clothing. Buy the shirt because you like it and because it looks good on you, not for the romance surrounding it.

Borrelli sleeves are not hand attached (at the cuff) so you're not going to lose any handstitching if you have them shortened.

I get all RTW shirts altered. Pulled in at the sides and sleeves shortened. Yep, pretty much everyone i have bought has needed it. The only handstitching on most of these Neapolitan shirts is at the shoulders which you cant really alter anyways.
