Yea, this was one thing that dissuaded me initially, too. However, I recommend thinking about Steve's shop as the cool backroom you have an open invitation to visit with a quick email or txt ahead of time, rather than a traditional store with specific hours maintained by a less-than-knowledgeable staff. In the cool backroom you get to meet your buddy, the owner, over a glass of whiskey and hear stories about the old days while looking over the exciting stuff just about to come out.

I hope I don't kill Steve's free time, but seriously, just send a PM or email with whatever time works for you.

@JIMB Glad you were able to make it. I agree that Steve has a nice program. It's been a while since I was at the Armoury, so it's hard for me to recall the differences. Maybe they weren't significant, but my lasting impression was that Steve's stuff was more pleasant overall. In terms if direction, I just meant that for those looking for soft Italian tailoring with a Neapolitan influence (which is a lot of the board at this point!), the OL custom program seems like a pretty good option to explore.

A couple shots from a visit with Steve and Sam (his tailor). Picture of me is wearing my first jacket that they assessed before putting in my next order for a lighter than navy W/S/L from Caccioppoli...the collar was accidentally popped on my jacket. Had a great time, drank some great beers, and walked away with this awesome Drakes tie. Thanks again, Steve!

Steve, do you have an ETA on the Carmina captoes yet? I see the website lists September, but seeing if you knew anything more definitive yet. Thanks and loving my E.G. Berkeleys!

Hi DB! Glad your Bekeleys worked well!
They should be completed in about a week or two. I've emailed them and awaiting for an update as well.
Let me know if you want to reserve anything and I will put them on the side for you :)

    Cheers!
    Steve

My Carmina Norwegian split toes 757s in Chestnut on Soller last came in from Steve. Wow are they gorgeous. Can't thank you enough @steveyoo1983 . I went with a 9 UK and I typically wear 10 D US in almost all shoes, including AE 65 last. There's a little bit of heel slip (more so in my 1/2 size smaller left foot), but nothing a slightly thicker sock can't fix. The ones I'm wearing today are rather thin. I don't think that I could size down to a 8.5 UK either since the width on these is absolutely perfect, it's just that they are a tad long (again more so on my smaller left foot, right foot is pretty perfect). I'm wearing them on my carpet in my office right now and the soles are already getting more flexible; they were pretty stiff as soon as I put them on which I think contributes to the heel slip as once the sole breaks in more then there is less resistance for the heel to come up with my actual heel.

Overall, I'm very pleased with the quality, fit, and look of these Carminas. I plan to get more in the future, probably starting with this same model but in polo suede. As it stands, these have usurped my AE Fifth Avenues for my wedding shoes.

Don't mind the washed out iPhone pics. The lighting is tough inside here.

Heel slippage is normal for sure man, it just takes a while for the footbed to flex. Keep wearing them around carpet and they should soften up and break in where theres stress on the shoe. Aside from that, beautiful color

Thanks Justin! I can already tell they will settle in nicely.
