@MGoCrimson ^ I'm not sure that sole is reddish-I think it's the lighting maybe

I whipped out my Carminas that are brown to compare the sole edge. The boot and the leather oxford look to have a reddish sole in the picture but in person they are just a smooth dark brown

Honestly, I would like to know what sole edge options there are. I like the lighter sole edge on my suede shoes, which looks to be a shade that falls between the natural sole edge and the brown sole edge. The natural sole edge might actually be a little too light

And we just met and you are wanting me to go commando already???

My preference is for brown to match the rest oh the shoe color but I will go with what majority decide so whatever you guys agree to.

At least offer to buy me a beer first...

They are the amazing 973 shell captoe boots that I got from Steve! I love them! It is weird that one of my favorite things about shell is the aroma they give off?!?

I might be leaning toward this as well...I will go with the group. I originally wanted the natural edge sole for contrast and casual look. Many cowboy boots have a sole edge that is different than the leather and this boot is what I would buy instead of a cowboy boot. I think something between the natural edge sole and the traditional brown sole edge would be the money shot

This sums it up for me just right.

@steveyoo1983 , would it be possible for you to find out which sole edge options are available? 'something between the natural edge sole and the traditional brown sole edge' would be perfect, if possible.

    Thanks,
    Robert

For the dark brown CXL jumper

Yea, I like the sole edge color on the suede shoes golfinz has in his picture. That's the color I was going for

An antiqued brown like this would be my ideal and I think would look amazing

@steveyoo1983 does Carmina offer anything like that?

And RE: the brass eyelets/speed hooks: bright or antiqued brass?

2 eyelet snuff suede chukka in the Rain last (narrow Rain for me). Lining TBA and Dainite sole. Will compromise on the eyelets if that is a deal breaker for someone.

    Who's in??

For the dark brown CXL jumper:

Absolutely @MGoCrimson, an antiqued brown like the one in this picture would be best! +1 from me for that.

Re brass eyelets and speed hooks, I'd opt for the bright version, in this picture I find the brown ones too dark and no good match to the sole edge color, bright adds some welcome contrast and highlights.

Re the brass eyelets and speed hooks. I kinda feel the opposite. With the antiqued brass, it will wear overtime and should brighten up and provide some character. Plus, I think a bright brass would take away from the CXL character as well as the sole color. I think the darker/antiqued brass will blend in and just provide the roll of protecting the eyelet vs something that is bright and says "look at me."

I think the bright brass of the below boot is too bright for the CXL makeup.

Something like the below is what I think would look the best (the below pic happens to be a brown CXL boot made up by Epaulet so you can see how the antiqued brass still has some color differential). I do hope our brown CXL looks more like the Skoatie brown CXL vs the below but it might just be the lighting:
