I like a fun colored vehicle as well. This would be my front runner in that category:

Am I the only one who prefers subtlety in bike paint jobs (aside from the red flames on my road bike, of course). I like dropping people on $10k bikes on my 14-year old steel cross bike in black and silver.

So this is akin to a conversation I have with people about guitars. Excellent players are going to play excellently but having an excellent guitar doesn't mean you can play excellently. The Piob that rode that Trek 1100 in 1996 (had downtube shifter I converted to STI) would kick the Piob's ass that rides his nice Domane with the 2k Zipp rims.

Please see above. I am not having this discussion with myself. :)

I guess I like subtlety and color... We can have both, right?

Like Intense's motocross inspired aggro neon/primary color schemes do nothing for me.

Or this is too much for me:

But it you took either color for the whole bike and shrank the logo, I'd be into it.

Like even though this is a bright color, it looks great to me

The detailing and shapes are subtle and the color isn't full neon (although **** both maxxis and dt swiss for their labeling... As previously discussed in this thread, I have blacked out much of my wheels and tires with a sharpie).

Hmm, another possible direction. Never heard of Esker Cycles, but they are built right down the road from me
(well I assume the carbon is molded in China...)

Gotta figure their bikes are literally designed for the trails I am riding. They have a 29er and a 27.5 that both run a suspension setup designed by Dave Weagle (who designed the DW-link Ibis uses).

Loving the color schemes on the 27.5" Elkat (although I'm more interested in the 29" Rowl):

I dig the the raw clearcoated carbon with orange decals even though black isn't my favorite bike color:

Matte purple looks good too:

Build kits cost a little more than I'd probably like to spend but come in a little under carbon Ripmo territory (and it sounds like they might be willing to work with you on build customizations).

Plus it is supporting the local guys who are building bikes for the local terrain. Probably like buying Ibis to ride Northern California.
Test rode an esker rowl in size large. It was only in a grassy park and the tires were way more burly than I am used to, but I don't know that I learned anything besides the fact that I am too big for a large.

It felt nice enough, but I don't know how it would compare to any of the other bikes I haven't been able to test and it's not like it blew my mind like coming from an old school steep 26" bike or something.

Was also the top tier build kit so anything I actually bought would feel less nice.

Nice 22.65 mile gravel/trail ride on the cyclocross bike (with some paved sections). I was targeting a specific Strava segment, and I knocked 31 seconds off my best time, and think I can comfortably go 30 seconds faster for those 1.75 miles).

Looks like a fun ride. Question from a strava newb, why are some segments hidden? I see that on my activities all the time. Yours showed several hidden as well?

Think those are segments made by people who have higher privacy settings? Not sure.

Hey, @otc, Santa Cruz might fill the "colour + subtle" for you, and based on my observations of my friend's "quiver" of SC bikes, they are ******* gorgeous.
