I like dropping people on $10k bikes on my 14-year old steel cross bike in black and silver.
Please see above. I am not having this discussion with myself.Am I the only one who prefers subtlety in bike paint jobs (aside from the red flames on my road bike, of course).

LOL at people who think their legs make them faster, not their bikes.LOL at people who read every post.

I guess I like subtlety and color... We can have both, right?Am I the only one who prefers subtlety in bike paint jobs (aside from the red flames on my road bike, of course). I like dropping people on $10k bikes on my 14-year old steel cross bike in black and silver.
Test rode an esker rowl in size large. It was only in a grassy park and the tires were way more burly than I am used to, but I don't know that I learned anything besides the fact that I am too big for a large.Hmm, another possible direction. Never heard of Esker Cycles, but they are built right down the road from me
(well I assume the carbon is molded in China...)Esker Cycles - Built for the Backcountry
Mountain bikes built with durability for the backcountry. Full suspension mountain bikes with Orion Dynamics suspension designed by Dave Weagle.eskercycles.com
Gotta figure their bikes are literally designed for the trails I am riding. They have a 29er and a 27.5 that both run a suspension setup designed by Dave Weagle (who designed the DW-link Ibis uses).
Loving the color schemes on the 27.5" Elkat (although I'm more interested in the 29" Rowl):

I dig the the raw clearcoated carbon with orange decals even though black isn't my favorite bike color:

Matte purple looks good too:

Build kits cost a little more than I'd probably like to spend but come in a little under carbon Ripmo territory (and it sounds like they might be willing to work with you on build customizations).
Plus it is supporting the local guys who are building bikes for the local terrain. Probably like buying Ibis to ride Northern California.
Looks like a fun ride. Question from a strava newb, why are some segments hidden? I see that on my activities all the time. Yours showed several hidden as well?Nice 22.65 mile gravel/trail ride on the cyclocross bike (with some paved sections). I was targeting a specific Strava segment, and I knocked 31 seconds off my best time, and think I can comfortably go 30 seconds faster for those 1.75 miles).
